Complete the fourth floor permanent exhibits that expand on the theme of "Finding Personal Greatness Within." These exhibits are critical to the award-winning museum's impact, the educational outcomes of its visitors, and its ability to inspire.
Phase I of the Center's fourth floor exhibits were completed upon the Center's opening in November 2005. However, Phase II - the permanent exhibits that focus on finding personal "greatness", were never fabricated or installed during the initial phase of the museum's opening in order reduce the initial capital program and to provide a more comprehensive interactive experience at some point thereafter.
The permanent Visitor Experience is located on the fourth and fifth floors of the Center, and covers approximately 24,000 square feet of exhibit space. These exhibits have drawn acclaim from visitors from 109 countries around the world for their quality and uniqueness, but more importantly for their emotional impact and ability to inspire. The Center has been honored with numerous awards from professional museum and media organizations, as well as from tour and visitor attraction associations.
Visitors begin their experience by ascending from the lobby to the Fifth Floor for the initial orientation media presentation. Next, they learn more about Muhammad Ali's journey as they proceed through a series of thematic pavilions that focus on the six core values of Ali's life. Finally, they descend to the Fourth Floor exhibits which include on-demand Ali boxing stations, an inspiring media presentation focusing on Alis 1996 Olympic torch lighting experience, and a 55 ft. long Hope and Dream Wall created by children around the world.
The remainder of the Fourth Floor is designed for visitors to participate in motivating self-discovery experiences as the message moves from Muhammad's "greatness" to that of the individual visitor: learning ways to live a more confident, respectful, and purposeful way of living on a daily basis. This exhibit space, entitled "Walk With Ali," is organized around ones Senses of Self, Purpose, and Others. Once completed, this space will become an interactive, engaging, and meaningful experience that complements these three areas and expands exponentially on the message of personal greatness and achieving one's potential.
This element of the Legacy Campaign will complete Phase II of the Visitor Experience by creating the permanent fourth floor exhibits.
