Statement from Muhammad Ali Center Regarding Orlando Tragedy

(June 13, 2016)...

Donald Lassere, President and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center said,“Three days ago, the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville said its final good bye to our founder Muhammad Ali, one of the world’s most famous and outspoken proponents of universal peace and oneness.  During the memorial service for Muhammad Ali, his eulogists sent messages of love for all people, seeking understanding among those who are different from ourselves, celebrating that diversity, and loving all of humanity.”

“The Muhammad Ali Center is saddened by the senseless and atrocious violence that occurred in Orlando,” continued Lassere, “and we send our deepest condolences to all of the family and friends of the victims, and to all the citizens of Orlando. As we continue to grieve for the loss of Muhammad Ali, we now grieve with the heaviest of hearts for the victims of this inconceivable tragedy.  The Muhammad Ali Center asks, as Muhammad Ali would have done, for the world to come together at this time as one compassionate body—to join hands, to connect our hearts and minds, and to devise a means to end the slaughter of innocent people. Peace, as we all know, is mankind’s highest value.”
