Ali-Themed Youth Poetry and Art Contest Open to K-12 Students As Part of Annual Ali Festival

Festival runs from June 3-13; Submission Deadline is June 13th

Muhammad Ali was a pop culture icon, with talents outside of the ring that included poetry, acting, sketching, and even singing. As part of this year’s Ali Festival, the Muhammad Ali Center is calling students from grades K-12 to ‘channel their inner Ali’ by submitting poetry or art based on specific Ali-related themes. One winner will be selected from elementary, middle, and high school levels. Prizes will be awarded and select entries and poems will be showcased through the Ali Center’s social media platforms. Submission deadline is June 13 at 11:59pm EDT.

Elementary School (grades K-5)

Write, draw, or record a poem or artwork that comes to mind when thinking about Muhammad Ali

Middle School (grades 6-8)

Write, draw, or record a poem or artwork based on one of Muhammad Ali’s Six Core Principles – Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Respect, Giving, and/or Spirituality

High School (grades 9-12)

Write, draw, or record a poem or artwork that demonstrates how Muhammad Ali used his fame for civic engagement, social justice, activism, and/or peacebuilding
