Attention Young Leaders Ages 16-24!  You are invited to attend the first annual “YOUth are the Greatest!” celebration!  Taking place in conjunction with the 8th Annual Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards, this unique event celebrates the incredible contributions that our young people have made throughout our community over the past year.  Louisville is growing and healing, and we owe YOU, our youth, a major thanks for your courage and your conviction to build a more just, equitable, and healthy community for all.  Join the Muhammad Ali Center as we celebrate your fellow activists, entrepreneurs, and artists. Enjoy a night full of food, music, games, amazing performances by local artists, and connect with local youth vendors and youth-run organizations. Additionally, all attendees will have exclusive after-hours access Muhammad Ali Center exhibits! Hear from our local leaders on ways to take action and how our youth can continue to help our community grow and heal even faster. There will be awesome PRIZES given away throughout the night and every young person will leave with a bag of free gear and giveaways!

Empowering Children Through Story Amid Social Crisis

Please join the Muhammad Ali Center for a special presentation by award-winning author Michael W. Waters!  Dr. Waters will talk about the importance of stories and how they can help empower children during uncertain times. In particular, he will discuss the importance of reading with children during times of crisis and how stories can help adults further engage with children in conversations about social issues and social change. This event will include a special book signing and sale of Dr. Waters award-winning children’s book, For Beautiful Black Boys Who Believe in a Better World.

About the Speaker:  Dr. Michael W. Waters is the founder and Lead Pastor of the Abundant Life African Methodist Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas. As a pastor, professor, award-winning author, activist, and social commentator, Waters’ words of hope and empowerment inspire national and international audiences. Dr. Waters is an award-winning author, activist, professor, and pastor. For Beautiful Black Boys Who Believe in a Better World, illustrated by Keisha Morris, won the 2020 Goddard Riverside CBC Youth Book Prize for Social Justice and was named a Must-Read Book about Race by Essence.
