Dedication and Community Celebration

The two day grand opening celebration of the Muhammad Ali Center culminated with a Public Dedication and Community event on the Belvedere in downtown Louisville. The ceremony, which was free and open to the public, featured musical performances, poetry readings, and other artistic presentations that symbolized Ali’s core values and those of the Ali Center. It was hosted by Emmy and award-winning sportscaster Bob Costas and Louisville radio personality Wayne Perkey. The nationally recognized rap group and Kentucky natives, Nappy Roots performed, as well as a host of other local entertainers. The speaker lineup included Senator Mitch McConnell, Governor Ernie Fletcher, Congresswoman Anne Northup, Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson, and others.
