Please join the Muhammad Ali Center for a special presentation by award-winning author Michael W. Waters! Dr. Waters will talk about the importance of stories and how they can help empower children during uncertain times. In particular, he will discuss the importance of reading with children during times of crisis and how stories can help adults further engage with children in conversations about social issues and social change. This event will include a special book signing and sale of Dr. Waters award-winning children’s book, For Beautiful Black Boys Who Believe in a Better World.

About the Speaker: Dr. Michael W. Waters is the founder and Lead Pastor of the Abundant Life African Methodist Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas. As a pastor, professor, award-winning author, activist, and social commentator, Waters’ words of hope and empowerment inspire national and international audiences. Dr. Waters is an award-winning author, activist, professor, and pastor. For Beautiful Black Boys Who Believe in a Better World, illustrated by Keisha Morris, won the 2020 Goddard Riverside CBC Youth Book Prize for Social Justice and was named a Must-Read Book about Race by Essence.
