A new temporary exhibit will be opening at the Ali Center featuring the photos of Muhammad Ali from the Courier-Journal publication Picture: Muhammad Ali.
The Courier Journal newspaper of Louisville, KY began reporting on Muhammad Ali, when he was still Cassius Clay, on November 5, 1954. This would be the first of many times that Cassius Clay and Muhammad Ali would show up in print in this publication. The Courier Journal followed Muhammad Ali’s career, his public humanitarian efforts later in life, the creation of the Muhammad Ali Center, and the global and local impact his passing.
Picture Ali showcases the photographers of The Courier Journal that were always ever present documenting the many movements of Ali, both in and outside of the ring, giving us a glimpse of the life and legacy of the champion.
