John Lennon and Yoko Ono, in 1969, used “Bed-Ins” as a way to put themselves and their message of peace into the public spotlight. Visitors to the Muhammad Ali Center and Abbey Road on the River were able to learn more about the couple’s passion for peace and how they used these publicity stunts to garner international attention. Through stories and photographs, the Give Peace a Chance exhibit offered visitors the opportunity to sit on the edge of the “Bed-In” in Montreal that took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel for seven days in May of 1969, and to envision or replay this explosive time in America’s history.
