Muhammad Ali Center Announces Free Film Screenings for International Women’s Month

Co-sponsored by the Muhammad Ali Center and Humanity Passport Project

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (March 10, 2016) — In partnership with the Humanity Passport Project, the Muhammad Ali Center is screening two free films for International Women’s Month in the Center’s auditorium. The screenings are Friday, March 18th and Saturday, March 19th. While the films are free, reservations are required.

  • What Happened, Miss Simone? :: Friday, March 18th at 6:00 p.m.
    Using never-before-heard recordings, rare archival footage, and her best-known songs, this is the story of legendary singer and activist, Nina Simone. Watch the trailer here and RSVP for your free seat here.
  • Anita :: Saturday, March 19th at 11:30 a.m.
    Against a backdrop of sex, politics, and race, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Freida Mock’s Anita reveals the intimate story of Anita Hill, a woman who dared to speak the truth. This powerful documentary traces Ms. Hill’s life from her early years through her legacy today, offering fascinating insight into her experienced testifying before the Senate just over 22 years ago in the weekend of shocking television that made her a household name and smashed the door open on the issues of sexual harassment and gender equality.
