LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (June 7, 2018) — The second annual “I Am Ali” festival, a citywide celebration of Muhammad Ali’s giving spirit and love of Louisville, concludes on Sunday, June 10th with the “I Am Ali” Festival Closing Celebration, presented by Horseshoe Southern Indiana. The celebration will take place on the Muhammad Ali Center’s plaza and inside the Center from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. It is free to attend.
The Closing Celebration will feature activities for all ages, live music, and food and drink vendors. Local Louisville music artists, the Carly Johnson & Craig Wagner Jazz Duo, will perform on the plaza, as well as the Dazzling Cardettes, the majorette dance team at the University of Louisville. DJ Q will provide additional music. Metro Parks will provide outdoor games for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
The Butterfly Dome Experience, an outdoor butterfly garden with which visitors can interact with live butterflies, will be set up on the Center’s plaza for a place of relaxation and inspiration. In addition, inside the Center, visitors can also share personalized tributes to Muhammad Ali through a Virtual Butterfly Memorial Garden, explore the Ali Center’s augmented reality wall and Generation Ali app, and get their faces painted.
Food and drinks from Gordon Biersch Brewery and Steel City Pops will be available for purchase, and Cellar Door Chocolates will be selling their special “I Am Ali” festival boxing glove chocolates. Half of the proceeds from the Lemonade Baristas, an award-winning kidpreneur lemonade stand, will benefit the Coalition for the Homeless.
