Statement from Muhammad Ali On the Passing of Ernie Terrell

Ali Mourns Passing of Fellow Fighter

“I am saddened by the news of Ernie Terrell’s passing. He and I go back almost fifty years. While we competed in the ring only once, we became friends outside of it. Ernie and I had a mutual understanding about the professional versus personal elements of our lives. We respected one another. In recent years, Ernie had attended some of our family events and had visited the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville. He was a big man with a big heart, and will be missed by me and our family.”
