LOUISVILLE, Kentucky… To pay tribute to Women’s History Month, the Ali Center will be bringing back Shining A Light, an international photography exhibition that showcases individuals and organizations working toward the goal of gender equality. It highlights actions being taken to combat inequalities in the world in areas such as education and health equity for women and girls; ending gender-based violence; eliminating employment discrimination; and the inclusion of women in politics.
Shining A Light, which will feature 32 photos, will be on display at the Ali Center from March 6 to June 21, 2015. The cost of the exhibit is included in regular Ali Center admission rates.
The Center received almost 250 entries from ten countries, spanning four continents.
Top entries include: First Place, “We Want Human Rights & Democracy” by Nimai Ghosh, India; Second Place, “Lady Teacher,” by Supriya Biswas, India; and Third Place, “Women’s Empowerment in the Community,” by Ana Bermudez, United Kingdom.
