Unveiling of initial Center plans. The design and location of the Muhammad Ali Center changed as the project developed.

$250,000 is raised for a feasibility study, Center site selection, and miscellaneous expenses. The city provided part-time staff, Tori Murden- McClure and Barry Alberts, to assist with this project. It was during this year that a Non-Profit Corporate Charter was developed and the Muhammad Ali Museum and Education was officially founded by Muhammad and Lonnie
