“The Greatest” is an intimate exploration of the incomparable life of the boxing champion, humanitarian and global icon. Executive produced by Lonnie Ali, the wife of the late luminary, The Greatest is the first authorized scripted series about the life of Muhammad Ali, offering unprecedented access and going beyond the amazing victories and defeats that made Ali a legend, both in and out of the ring.

If courage had a face, it would be the visage of a man in full, magnificently complicated yet fully evolved, both mythic but real to the touch. Courage would look like a world heavyweight champion, a conscientious objector, an activist, a diplomat, and a humanitarian. Courage would be Muhammad Ali.

In the ring, Ali possessed unparalleled power, speed, and charisma. In the world at large, his consciousness and empathy about the state of the world, equality, justice, and the fate of the marginalized reverberated louder than his athletic prowess. Quite possibly the most famous person in his time, Ali drew crowds everywhere he went — and he went everywhere. Equally at ease with heads of state and people on the street, Ali stood in the power of his faith and values. He withstood forces that threatened to cut him down to size and steal prime years of his career, only to rise again stronger and more urgent than ever.

“The Greatest” traces Muhammad Ali’s early road to greatness, following a young Cassius Clay through the personal, professional and political battles he fought inside and outside the ring. Set against a changing America, “The Greatest” follows a once-in-a-generation talent fighting for the right to become his own man. Through the fights that made him a champion and the convictions that made him an icon, a young man from Louisville transforms himself into Muhammad Ali, the greatest of all time.

Jaalen Best stars as “Cassius Clay”/Muhammad Ali, alongside a star-studded line up of castmates, including Omari Hardwick as “Cassius Clay Sr.,” Dana Gourrier as “Odessa ‘Bird’ Clay,” Kai Parham as “Rudy Clay,” Amin Joseph as “Sonny Liston,” Giovanni Ribisi as “Angelo Dundee,” and Michael Ealy as “Malcolm X.”

The Muhammad Ali Center highlights Muhammad Ali as a symbol of courage, portraying him as a powerful and compassionate figure in both boxing and social justice.

In 2005, he and his wife, Lonnie Ali, founded the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville to inspire and promote social justice. Through the Ali Center, we ignite courage in others to achieve their own greatness.

In addition to our award-winning museum, the Ali Center offers a wide range of programs to activate our mission. Our Youth Leadership Programming works to inspire the next generation of changemakers who, like Muhammad Ali, will grow to become advocates of peace and social justice.

We also offer University Partnerships that provide colleges and universities with a robust first-year experience and curricular program for inspiring students to become activators of positive social change.
