John Leshney is the Chief Impact Officer for the Ali in All of Us Initiative.
In his role, Leshney is responsible for developing and advancing this global initiative that fosters the Six Core Principles and legacy of Muhammad Ali to inspire the world one person at a time, to engage in service to others, and to create a consciousness of humanitarian service that permeates people’s lifestyles and daily living. Our goal is to create the next generation of humanitarians.
Prior to joining the Ali Center, he was the Senior Vice President of Development at The V Foundation for Cancer Research, where he planned and directed its national fundraising programs. Leshney has had both an extensive and dynamic career in development and fundraising management, advancing charitable causes with an entrepreneurial spirit and creating impact for nearly 30 years.
A graduate of Xavier University (XU) and XU’s graduate school in history and political science, Leshney was awarded the Lyndon Baines Johnson Legislative Internship in 1979, which marked the beginning of a ten-year career in the United States Congress. Leshney later served as the chief legislative assistant to former U.S. Rep. Bob McEwen of Ohio and oversaw areas of national security, veterans’ issues and health care. In addition, he served as a liaison with White House during Ronald Reagan’s presidency. Leshney also received a dual appointment to the U.S. House of Representatives Veterans’ Affairs Committee staff, where he received national awards for his service.
Leshney and his wife, Barb, have three grown children.
